Dry Skin Care

Dry skin care is all about moisturizing, eating a balanced diet, prevention against harmful UV rays and hydrating your body of the lost moisture.

Moisturizing dry skin is an essential part of treating dry skin.  Adequate moisturizing can leave your dry skin supple and nourished. You should always dampen the skin before applying a moisturizing cream. A moisturizer seals the water into the skin, in so doing increasing hydration of dry skin. Several daily applications of a moisturizing cream can accelerate hydration, in particular, if you have an advanced dry skin condition. The most commonly used emollients in moisturizing creams and lotions are petrolatum, lanolin, and mineral oil.

Cleansing your skin properly is another way to tackle dry skin. Dry skin care cleansing products are enriched with a combination of emollients and humectants. They tend to replenish the skin with oils and moisture.

Since dry skin generates less oil, it is prone to the damaging effects of the sun. Sunscreens work by shielding the skin from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays, developing a physical barrier against the sun rays. You must use sunscreens with a high SPF content before exposing your skin to direct sunlight.

You should always use cosmetics with oil-based foundations if you have a dry skin. Oil-based products tend to make the skin appear moist.

For a long-lasting dry skin care, you should always eat a healthy diet and drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day.
