Keeping skin

clear of impurities, makeup and dirt are the ideal solutions to get rid of

acne and keep skin healthy-looking. Cleansing the skin with a gentle and effective acne face wash is the first step in treating acne. This prepares the skin for the application of topical medications.

In choosing an acne face wash, it is important to keep in mind that the choice of product should suit your skin. There are formulations specific for oily skin, dry skin and combination skin while there are some that are suitable for all skin types. It is best to read the labels and identify which product is best for your skin type.

An acne face wash should be non-irritating, non-comedogenic and should not clog up pores. If irritation occurs after using a certain product, the best thing to do is to discontinue use and consult a dermatologist. It may be a sign of an allergic reaction. Skin irritation can aggravate acne problems and may complicate the condition of the skin.

In choosing an acne face wash, make sure that it is oil-free and has a hypoallergenic solution. This is helpful in effectively cleansing the skin while minimizing the risks of irritation that can further cause acne outbreaks.

Some individuals may choose a medicated acne face wash for a dual action while washing the face. One of the effective treatments for acne is Benzoyl Peroxide. Some acne face wash already has this as an active ingredient such as Panoxyl Wash, Benzac-W wash, Clearasil and Clean and Clear.

For others who want to cleanse their face with salicylic acid-medicated acne face wash, there are also good products to choose from. Some of these are Panoxyl Clear Acne Cleansing Gel, Salac, Clearasil and Fostex. Check the labels to see the percentage of salicylic acid that the face wash contains. For example, one brand may contain 2% salicylic acid.

Some acne face wash solutions have antibacterial action. These products are not recommended for individuals with overly dry skin. Washing the face with an antibacterial acne face wash can further worsen skin dryness and may lead to the development of skin wrinkles. For individuals with oily skin, antibacterial acne face wash such as Trisan and Tersaseptic may be beneficial.
